Rep. Brat Announces Support for Judge Kavanaugh During First Day of Hearings

Today, Congressman Dave Brat, chairman of the House Constitution Caucus, issued a statement of support for Judge Kavanaugh as he endured tedious questioning from obstructive Senate Democrats.

"Judge Kavanaugh is easily one of the most qualified and distinguished originalist jurists in America. Any Republican president would have considered him at the top of their lists. It is sad to see Senate Democrats grasp at straws by complaining about the process of the nomination (a process that has been fair and professionally conducted by Chairman Grassley) and the president who nominated him.

"Article I of the Constitution mandates that Congress be the author of new laws in this country -- Article III states the Supreme Court's mission is to evaluate whether or not those laws are constitutional. The Supreme Court was never designed to be the frontlines of a culture war. Senate Democrats, by politicizing this confirmation hearing process, tarnish the judicial branch and our national Constitution."
