U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) offered his condolences following the death of U.S. Senator John McCain of Arizona. Murphy will attend the funeral service for McCain on Saturday in Washington, D.C.

"The Senate, the United States, and the world are better places thanks to John. When he spoke, people of both parties listened, and there aren't many like him anymore," said Murphy. He taught me what it meant to be a senator representing the best of American values abroad. I learned from the a great man and mentor."

"I will forever consider myself lucky to have served in the Senate with John, and his death just steels inside me a desire to work to continue his legacy of honor, decency, and respect of others," Murphy continued.
