Stacey Abrams has consistently championed the protection of our water, air, coasts, and people from environmental hazards. As Governor, Stacey will strengthen these protections, create jobs connected to environmental protection, advocate for policies that address climate change, and prioritize preserving the health of our environment as a matter of public good, economic development, and justice. Our natural resources are the centerpiece of our well-being, and Stacey Abrams is committed to stewardship of our resources on behalf of all communities.

As Governor, Stacey will:

Invest in advanced and renewable energy through a Georgia Green Bank and other initiatives
Protect our communities from climate change
Say no to drilling off of our Georgia coastline
Fight for clean water and keep communities safe from coal ash
Stand for environmental justice to ensure that communities of color and low-income communities are not disproportionately impacted by industrial and commercial projects
Focus on expanding public transit and low emission vehicles
Stacey's Record:

Co-sponsored numerous laws to clean up solid waste and hazardous waste, offer a tax credit for hybrid and low-emission vehicles, promote clean energy, protect state parks, and require public notice of landfill leaks
Oversaw the legal team for the Department of Watershed Management as Deputy City Attorney, drafted legislation to implement the strongest water conservation laws among municipalities
Managed the outside legal team to implement cleanup of the Chattahoochee River
Negotiated the Beltline acquisition of the Vulcan Quarry site, which is set to become Atlanta's largest park and reservoir
