Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jason Lewis issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, including the Congressman's dual enrollment provision to allow concurrent student enrollment in both high school and technical college.

"I want young people in the 2nd District to learn the skills they need to be successful in the 21st Century economy. Employers around the country are looking to fill well-paid, skilled jobs -- and career and technical education puts students on the pathway to success in those industries. I'm proud to see this legislation finalized with my language to encourage and expand dual enrollment opportunities, allowing high school students to begin working towards an in-demand credential or degree. Getting H.R. 2353 signed into law will be a major step forward in addressing the skills gap".
