Rep. Levin Statement on Republican Immigration Bill Failures

Statement

By:
Date:
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Sandy Levin (D-MI) issued the following statement today after the House of Representatives rejected the second of two Republican immigration bills. Rep. Levin voted against both bills.

"The two failed immigration bills put forth by Republicans would have provided no real path forward for the Dreamers, wasted funding for an unnecessary border wall, and done nothing to reunite children cruelly separated from their parents at the border. Instead of wasting time on partisan bills that attempt to arrest and deport our way out of a broken immigration system, we should focus on comprehensive bipartisan immigration reform."

Rep. Levin had previously signed onto a discharge petition that would have allowed for debate on bipartisan immigration legislation.
