Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, released the following statement after the passing of Senator John McCain:

"Clarinda and I extend our deepest sympathies to the family of a true American hero during this difficult time. Senator McCain served our great nation honorably for decades, and I enjoyed working with him on numerous veterans issues. He always finished our conversations with "thank you my friend.' Thank you, Senator McCain, for a lifetime of selfless service."
