JB Pritzker Statement on Rauner Vetoing Protections Against Workplace Discrimination

Statement

Date: Aug. 14, 2018
Location: Chicago, IL

Late Monday, Bruce Rauner vetoed a bill that protected Illinoisans from discrimination in the workplace. In response, JB Pritzker released the following statement:

"Discrimination has no place in our state and Illinoisans deserve a governor who will fight to make workplaces free of discrimination across Illinois," said JB Pritzker. "By vetoing this anti-discrimination bill, Bruce Rauner is making it abundantly clear that he cannot be trusted to stand up for marginalized communities across our state. This was a simple, yet powerful proposal: workers at companies of all sizes should be protected from discrimination by their employer. It's a commonsense bill that should have been signed immediately. Bruce Rauner failed to stand up for those who need protection yet again, and unlike this failed governor, I will sign this legislation without hesitation in Springfield."
