U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) released the following statement today after the U.S. Navy announced it would be assigning the initial homeport of USS Minneapolis-St Paul (LCS 21) to Mayport Naval Station, effective July 31, 2019:

"I am pleased to welcome the USS Minneapolis-St Paul (LCS 21) and her crew to Florida after being assigned to Mayport for the vessel's initial homeport. Mayport will be the principal East Coast home for the Navy's newest class of warships, the Littoral Combat Ships. The Sunshine State prides itself on its long history of support for our Navy's ships and sailors, and we remain committed to that special relationship."
