Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence Announces Legislative Agenda

Press Release

Today, the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence announced its legislative agenda to prevent and address instances of sexual violence across the country. The agenda showcases bipartisan legislation from members of the Task Force. The bills focus on a range of issues, from the sexual assault kit backlog to human trafficking and online safety.

The Task Force is co-chaired by Reps. Annie Kuster (D-NH), Jackie Speier (D-CA), Dave Joyce (R-OH) and Dan Donovan (R-NY)

After hearing the concerns of constituents, law enforcement, and community leaders across the country, the Task Force selected 13 pieces of legislation that collectively target unique challenges faced in the workplace, schools, online, and throughout society. The agenda focuses on protecting children, preventing campus sexual violence, addressing military sexual trauma, combatting online harassment, improving data collection and law enforcement training, ending the sexual assault kit backlog, and raising general awareness about the issue of sexual violence.

"The Legislative Agenda represents where we can work together, in a bipartisan manner, to achieve tangible legislative victories that will go a long way in helping victims and preventing future sexual violence," said the Task Force Co-Chairs. "The members of this Task Force have developed creative, well thought-out, and effective bills that will contribute to positive improvements on these important issues. As legislators, parents, and members of communities that have been impacted by sexual violence for far too long, we believe this agenda will serve as a strong framework to tackle these problems, provide a better response to sexual violence incidents, and pursue justice for survivors."
