Claire McCaskill Discusses Work to Support Missouri Soybean Growers, Ethanol and Biodiesel Producers at POET Biorefining and Mid America Biofuels

Statement

Date: Aug. 7, 2018

Today, Senator Claire McCaskill visited POET Biorefining in Macon and Mid America Biofuels in Mexico, where she spoke with employees about their work to support Missouri's agricultural economy and discussed her efforts to protect soybean growers and ethanol and biodiesel producers from unfair foreign trade practices.

"Missouri's agricultural industry is facing greater uncertainty than ever, and the last thing we should be doing is making it harder on them by closing international markets. I heard directly from POET Biorefining and Mid America Biofuels about the challenges they face, and I will continue to speak out on behalf of the soybean growers and ethanol and biodiesel producers that help fuel Missouri's economy." -- Senator Claire McCaskill

Claire has worked to protect Missouri soybean growers and ethanol and biodiesel producers, testifying against unfair trade practices at the International Trade Commission and successfully pressing the Department of Commerce to take action against those practices. Claire also supported measures to help ethanol producers close the price gap and expand production.
