Congressman Dave Brat released the following statement following the passage of H. Res. 990:

"Today, I was proud to join my colleagues in the House of Representatives approving a resolution expressing support for the officers and personnel who carry out the important mission of ICE.

"The brave men and women of ICE fight valiantly to keep our communities safe and maintain the integrity of the immigration system. They fulfill dangerous missions like rescuing exploited children and victims of human trafficking. They bust drug operations and criminal trading. It's clear ICE agents are essential to maintaining the rule of law and peace and prosperity of our great country.

"Calls to abolish ICE are extremely irresponsible and opposed by the American people. I am grateful this country's representatives chose to express our support for ICE personnel's service today."
