Today, Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the senior Republican in the United States Senate, released the following statement after the Senate confirmed President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, Acting Secretary Robert Wilkie:

"I'm pleased that the Senate confirmed Robert Wilkie to lead the VA. He brings extensive experience from both the VA and the DoD, where he oversaw a wide range of portfolios that concern the wellbeing of our troops and their families. His work on these issues, along with his personal connection as a reserve officer and as the son of a wounded veteran, give him a unique understanding of the priorities and needs of our nation's veterans. I believe Utah's large veteran population will be in good hands under hisleadership."
