Palazzo Opposes Amnesty

Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4), today opposed H.R. 6136, the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act, that failed in the House by a vote of 121-301.

"It comes down to one simple issue, amnesty. I cannot vote for a bill that grants amnesty to illegal immigrants. There were some good aspects of this bill, however it did not accomplish all of my, and the people of South Mississippi's, top immigration priorities. Even our President was reluctant to support this bill and also recognized its ultimate demise in the Senate. I agree with him and feel it is unfortunate that we have to continue watering down the pro-America aspects of our bills to get the nine democrat votes we need in the Senate. It's time to get rid of the Senate filibuster.

"I fully support President Trump in his border security efforts and look forward to continuing to work with him to find a solution that meets ALL of our priorities including; building the wall, surging the National Guard to the border, ending chain migration, and shutting down sanctuary cities. Border security is national security, and the safety of the American people must come first. Then and only then, can we actually begin to focus fully on comprehensive immigration reform."
