Congressman Jimmy Gomez to President Trump: "Fire Stephen Miller'

Statement

Today, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D -- Los Angeles) released the following statement calling on President Donald Trump to fire White House Senior Advisor Stephen Miller:

"It's no secret that Stephen Miller -- a man who consistently draws praise from white nationalists and white supremacists -- is the architect behind the onslaught of anti-immigrant policies emanating from the White House. Until he is removed from his post and banished from the halls of government, I believe it will be nearly impossible to reach a substantive legislative solution on immigration that upholds our country's values and respects the rule of law.

"While President Trump is accountable for signing off on his administration's actions, those like Miller are responsible for providing him with the policies and direction behind such actions. If there is even a modicum of sincerity behind the president's claim that he cares about the immigrant children he has separated from their parents and imprisoned at the border, he'll back up that sentiment with action and immediately fire Miller -- the person behind these inhumane practices."
