McMorris Rodgers Votes for Transparency in Federal Spending

Statement

Date: July 13, 2018
Issues: Taxes

House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed the Unfunded Mandates Information and Transparency Act of 2017 (H.R. 50). Introduced by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), this legislation will strengthen and augment existing protections to prevent the costs of burdensome and costly federal mandates from being passed on to state and local governments.

"The economy is booming because of Republicans' work to reform our outdated tax code, roll back regulations, and restore accountability and efficiency in the federal government. As a result, the American people are better off now. Our efforts continue as we enhance safeguards with Rep. Foxx's bill so that local governments and small businesses aren't burdened with the costs of unfunded federal mandates. I'm grateful for her leadership."
