Nadler Statement On SCOTUS Decision In Janus V. AFSCME

Statement

Date: June 27, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement on the Supreme Court's decision in Janus v. AFSCME:

"I am deeply concerned about the effects of the Court's ruling in Janus v. AFSCME on the ability of public sector unions to continue protecting the interests of police, firefighters, nurses, teachers, and other public servants. In reaching its result, the Court unjustifiably overturned decades-old precedent, injected clear right-wing ideological bias into a long-settled area of law, and upended the settled expectations of state and local governments. Make no mistake, this decision is a serious blow to the many public employees who serve and protect the American people day in and day out."
