Statement

Date: June 18, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today voted in favor of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (NDAA), which provides $716 billion in funding for national defense. The NDAA passed the Senate with a vote of 85-10.

This legislation will give troops a 2.6% pay raise, the largest raise for service members in nearly ten years.

"Today's passage of the NDAA will provide our troops with a much needed pay raise," said Senator Roberts. "The NDAA is crucial to ensuring our men and women in uniform are provided the best training, equipment, and support necessary to complete their mission and return safely."

While the bill does include 14 new KC46 tankers, Senator Roberts will continue to push for the purchase of the additional new planes to replace the nation's aging tanker fleet.

Senator Roberts is the most senior Marine in the congress and is the founder and co-chair of the Senate Marine Caucus.
