Issue Position: Healthcare, Medicare, and Social Security

Issue Position

Congress is so controlled by special interests they are incapable of fixing Medicare.

About $25 billion dollars could be saved by allowing Medicare to negotiate with drug companies for the lowest possible prices, and by tort reform. But drug companies and the trial lawyers union control Congress so those, and other needed reforms will not happen.

I advocate a return of health-care policy to the states through the conversion of Medicaid into block grants to the states with policy freedom at the state level.

I want as much competition as possible. Allow insurance companies to sell across state lines. Anyone at any age should be allowed to buy into Medicaid.

Reduce Social Security benefits for those with high incomes.

Raise Social Security Retirement age from 67 to 68 starting with anybody born in 1955.
