Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019:
"There are no shortage of threats in the world today, as we've seen from the regimes in North Korea and Iran. Passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with bipartisan support sends a strong message to our troops at home and abroad that Congress and President Trump have their backs and take these threats seriously. I will never apologize for supporting our men and women in uniform and will continue to advocate for them to have the best equipment and training available to ensure their safety and readiness. This legislation builds upon the continuing efforts to restore our military strength by increasing the size of our armed forces, bringing about major reforms at the Pentagon and most importantly giving our troops a well-deserved pay raise. I'm pleased to support this year's NDAA and proud of the work done by the House Armed Services Committee on this strong, bipartisan bill."
