Issue Position: Accountability in Washington

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018

Congress and Washington D.C. bureaucrats are out-of-control and out-of-touch. 1024px-US_Capitol_Building_at_night_Jan_2006 (1)Too many have forgotten the basic meaning of the words "public servant." I introduced the Congressional Pay for Performance Act, which will require Congress to pass budget and appropriation bills on time or else members of Congress will not get paid. I support term limits and I refused to take the unauthorized healthcare subsidies for members of Congress granted by the Obama Administration.

In addition, I am supporting efforts that create a culture of accountability to Washington, D.C., including:

An amendment to the Constitution imposing term limits for the House and Senate
Authoring legislation to prevent Members of Congress from being paid if they do not complete their work on time with respect to budget and spending legislation
Senator Ron Johnson's lawsuit to revoke the unauthorized healthcare deal for members of Congress
Legislation that requires any major regulation to receive an up or down vote by the people's elected representatives before it can be enforced against the people
Authoring amendments to redirect all bonus money at the VA for the care of veterans
Authored an amendment to require that federal agencies consider the impact of regulations on jobs and wages before finalizing a new rule
