Shimkus Comments on POTUS' Memo to Accelerate Air Quality Decisions

Subcommittee on Environment Chairman John Shimkus (R-IL) issued the following statement after President Trump issued a Presidential Memorandum regarding implementation and permitting for the National Ambient Air Quality Standards.

"This committee has been at the forefront of easing the burden on manufacturers and providing the states with the flexibility needed to implement the air quality standards on an efficient, realistic timeline," said Chairman Shimkus. "The president's memo tracks closely to our efforts here at the committee and addresses practical implementation reforms, such as timely reviews of state implementation plans, timely processing of preconstruction permits, timely issuance of agency guidance, and improved accounting of international emissions, all while ensuring air quality continues to improve."
