Rep. Comstock On U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency's Office of Information Technology Headquarters Coming To Loudoun

Statement

Date: March 22, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statements after it was announced that the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency's Office of Information Technology (OIT) headquarters will be coming to Loudoun County.

"I'm pleased to report that the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency's Office of Information Technology (OIT) headquarters will be locating in Ashburn pending final approval by the Loudoun Board of Supervisors. This is something my office worked on extensively with relevant stakeholders and with Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) to advocate and get this through the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

"The 15-year lease will consolidate CBP's Northern Virginia OIT offices and in total, over 3,700 CBP positions will move to Loudoun, including engineers, technicians, scientists and support personnel. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency's Office of Information Technology (OIT) headquarters will occupy 445,000 square feet of Class-A office space at American Square at Quantum Park at 22001 Loudoun County Parkway, near the Ashburn Silver Line Metro station. This is a prime location with access to the Metro, but also near Dulles International Airport, Route 28, and the Greenway. Loudoun is further cementing itself as an employment center and ideal spot for federal agencies and contractors. The diversification of the local economy will expand the tax base, allow greater utilization of the educated workforce in the county and shorten commutes.

"Already, the owner of American Square at Quantum Park, AREP will be making $179 million in improvements to the facility, including build out of the existing space and a new wing. The improvements are expected to be completed in time for the Agency to move in 2020, when the Silver Line will become operational in Loudoun. I trust the Board of Supervisors will move expeditiously with final approval so that we can bring these jobs to Loudoun."
