Jones Opposes Chines Chicken in US Schools

Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) is once again working to protect American children from unsafe, foreign foods that may not pass U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection or other quality standards. In a letter sent last week, Congressman Jones and fellow members of Congress are asking the House Committee on Appropriations "to include language to ensure that Chinese-processed poultry is not included in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)" as well as "to expand the language to prohibit funds from being used to implement any rule that would allow poultry slaughtered in China to be exported to the United States."

"Foreign countries are regularly trying to export low-quality, high-risk foods to make a profit," said Congressman Jones. "The last thing we want is a country like communist China flooding our markets with food that could endanger our children. We can't afford that risk."

Congressman Jones has consistently fought against the efforts of foreign governments, such as communist China, to undermine American businesses, markets, and industries.
