Marchant Statement On Secretary Rex Tillerson

U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (R-TX-24), issued the following statement after the Administration's announcement to replace Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with current CIA Director, Mike Pompeo:

"While some people may know Rex Tillerson by the titles of Chairman of Exxon or Secretary of State, I know him -- like many Texans -- for his years of service in our North Texas community through the Boy Scouts of America, as both National President and recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. His lifetime of experience aided the efforts to restore America's role as a global leader and solidified important relationships with our allies. He served his country with distinction as America's chief diplomat.

"I am encouraged that my former colleague, Mike Pompeo, has been selected to build on these efforts and lead American diplomacy at the State Department. He has earned the respect of his peers on both sides of the aisle for strengthening our intelligence capabilities and ongoing commitment to keep American's safe at home and abroad."
