Rep. Jenkins Helps Pass Bill to Stop Online Human Trafficking

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) helped pass legislation today to crack down on websites that facilitate online human trafficking.

Rep. Jenkins is also a cosponsor of H.R. 1865, the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, which will give prosecutors the tools they need to enforce state criminal laws and shut down sex trafficking operations online, including on classified ad websites.

"The internet has empowered human traffickers by giving them new platforms and ways to commit horrific acts against children and adults. We must hold websites accountable for giving these horrific criminals an online platform to prey on our children. This legislation gives our law enforcement officials the tools they need to combat modern-day slave markets online and to protect our children from those who seek to do them harm. Victims of human trafficking deserve justice and our support," Rep. Jenkins said.
