LANGEVIN STATEMENT ON SUPREME COURT NOMINATION
September 5, 2005

(Warwick, R.I.)-Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) offered the following statement today about President George W. Bush's decision to nominate Judge John Roberts to the position of Supreme Court Chief Justice:

"Like all Americans I will be watching the Supreme Court nomination process in the Senate with keen interest," said Langevin. "As I have stressed in the past, I urge the President and Senate to approve a justice with a voice of reason and moderation and whether or not Judge Roberts fits that profile remains to be determined. I expect the Senate to continue its fact finding exercises regarding Judge Roberts. Today's announcement by the President raises the bar on the Roberts nomination."
