House Judiciary Committee Passes Legislation to Improve America's Infrastructure

The House Judiciary Committee today passed H.R. 3808, the Infrastructure Expansion Act of 2017, by a vote of 16-14. This bill reforms liability laws for federally funded projects and would save taxpayers billions of dollars for new infrastructure and housing projects.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) issued the following statement:

Chairman Goodlatte: "The reforms included in the Infrastructure Expansion Act are simple, but their effect will be felt across the country. This bill reforms liability laws for federally funded projects to ensure that any misconduct of a plaintiff is taken into account during the lawsuit. This legislation will save taxpayers billions of dollars for new infrastructure and housing projects. In addition, this bill also reduces burdensome regulations and enhances infrastructure--two priorities that the President has asked Congress to prioritize. I'm grateful to my colleague from New York, Representative John Faso, for his dedicated work on this issue, and I urge House leadership to bring it to a vote."
