SENATOR GREGG COMMENTS ON THE PASSING OF CHIEF JUSTICE WILLIAM REHNQUIST

U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) today made the following statement on the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

Senator Gregg stated, "Justice Rehnquist's death is a loss for the entire country. He has been an exceptional jurist. He has brought common sense, intelligence, a good sense of humor, and a lot of collegiality to the Supreme Court and his leadership on the Court has been, in my opinion, nothing short of exceptional.

"It obviously means that we now must seek a new Supreme Court judge position, and also a new Chief Justice. I'm hopeful that we can find somebody who will emulate the talents and abilities that Justice Rehnquist had, and that will give this nation the type of leadership that he gave this nation from the bench."
