Protecting the Sanctity of Life

The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4712, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Texas) issued the following statement regarding passage of the bill:

"Today, the House took a bipartisan stand to protect the sanctity of life. The Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act protects babies who survive an attempted abortion. We are ensuring that these babies are transported and admitted to a hospital and immediately receive the same degree of life-saving care and attention that any other newborn would receive. It also ensures that any doctor who attempts to kill the baby is held criminally liable, while preventing any prosecution of the mother. Life is sacred and I will continue to support legislation that protects the rights of the unborn. I urge my Senate colleagues to pass this important pro-life bill so that it can be sent to the President's desk to be signed into law."
