Statement

Date: Jan. 23, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), who signed the petition to have a proposal to restore felon voting rights added to the Florida ballot, issued the following statement regarding Secretary of State Ken Detzner's announcement the petition has surpassed the necessary valid signatures:

"Fellow Floridians who have made mistakes and paid their debt to society deserve an opportunity to have a voice in the future of our state and country. The Second Chances Voting Restoration Amendment does just that and I'm pleased Florida voters will be able to consider this important criminal justice and voting rights issue in November."
