House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) released the following statement calling on Senate Democrats to end their shutdown and vote "yes' this afternoon on the bill to open back up the government:
"This can and should end now. I urge Senate Democrats to stop this madness and allow the government to reopen. Stop holding our government, our troops, and health care for our kids hostage. Senate Democrats and their filibuster forced this shutdown, and now they have an opportunity to end it. Vote yes."
