House Administration Committee Democrats Call for Mandatory Sexual Harassment Training

Statement

House Administration Committee Democrats today called for the quick adoption of mandatory sexual harassment prevention and response training for Members of the House, congressional staff, and other employees of the House. The Democrats are calling for swift passage of H. Res. 604 ahead of today's Committee on House Administration hearing to review the House's sexual harassment awareness training.

U.S. Reps. Bob Brady (D-Pa.), Senior Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), and Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) issued the following statement:

"The House of Representatives should move quickly to adopt mandatory anti-harassment training for Members of Congress and all employees of the House. Representative Jackie Speier has introduced a bipartisan measure, the Congressional Education About Sexual Harassment Eradication Resolution, or CEASE Resolution, which would require all Members and Congressional employees to complete training offered by the Office of Compliance. This measure is a basic best practice for workplaces across America."

The CEASE Resolution is supported by the National Women's Law Center, Futures Without Violence, and the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence.
