U.S. Rep. Dennis A. Ross (R-FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip and a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, issued the following statement upon the news of the resignation of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray:

"The CFPB has been in dire need of new leadership, and Director Cordray's resignation provides us with an opportunity to restore accountability and put an end to CFPB's regulatory overreach. As President Trump moves to fill this vacancy, I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the Financial Services Committee to permanently reform this rogue and unconstitutional agency.
