U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement today after U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) announced an agreement to improve and reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP):
"I thank Whip Scalise and Chairman Hensarling for making progress towards a comprehensive, long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program. This is a step in the right direction. I will continue to work towards a sustainable and affordable NFIP for Louisiana families."
