Cornyn Introduces Texans Willett, Ho at Confirmation Hearing to Serve on Federal Bench

Statement

Date: Nov. 15, 2017
Location: Washington, D.C.

Today, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced the two nominees to fill vacancies to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, state Supreme Court Chief Justice Don Willett and former state Solicitor General Jim Ho, at their confirmation hearing.

"These two nominees reflect the best of Texas, and the best of America. They are each fathers, lawyers, scholars, public servants, and active participants in their communities. The stories of Jim Ho and Don Willett are different, but they are both quintessentially American -- building blocks of what makes our country so great."

"Jim Ho and Justice Don Willett are two stars in the Texas legal firmament already. These nominees reflect the comprehensive process of both the bipartisan Texas Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee that Senator Cruz and I have established as well as the White House Counsel's Office and the Department of Justice, and I commend the President on these excellent nominations."
