ICYMI: Inhofe Joins Senate, Religious Leaders to Stand for Religious Liberty

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) joined Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX), Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Senator Todd Young (R-IN), Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator James Lankford (R-Okla.) at a press conference yesterday to defend 7th Circuit Court of Appeals nominee, Amy Coney Barrett. They were also joined by Professor Mark Rienzi with Becket for Religious Liberty, Joshua McCaig with Catholic Bar Association and Penny Young Nance with Concerned Women for America.
Sen. Inhofe spoke about the importance of confirming judicial nominees, like Scott Palk of Oklahoma, who the Senate confirmed last week.
Excerpt: I want to mention one thing that happened last week, you may have forgotten about. We had a guy named Scott Palk from our state of Oklahoma. He was one who was nominated not by President Trump, but by President Obama. He ended up getting 79 votes out of 100 votes--so you know he was qualified--but they still had to go through 30 hours. Now what is the reason for this? The reason--just to be obstructionists.
Inhofe also released the following statement about the importance of confirming qualified judicial nominees who aren't afraid to defend religious liberty:
"President Trump's judicial nominations have been superb, beginning with Neil Gorsuch at the Supreme Court and recently with Scott Palk in Oklahoma. We've seen a lot of obstruction by Senate Democrats over qualified judicial nominees this year. In an attempt to find even more ways to deny President Trump his nominees, it is beyond disappointing that they will now cite religious conviction as a reason for holding up exemplary nominees like Amy Barrett. This is unacceptable and goes against the religious protections we cherish as Americans. This obstruction has clearly gone too far--we must confirm Amy Barrett and the other Circuit Court of Appeals nominees to help restore freedom and conservative values in our nation."
