Pearce Supports Tax Reform for a Stronger New Mexico

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement after the House Committee on Ways and Means released the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which reforms the nation's tax code to create better opportunities for individuals, families, and businesses to thrive:

"For months, the House has been working on legislation to reform our nation's tax code to provide relief for small businesses, empower the middle-class, and create more jobs for hard-working Americans -- Today's bill does just that.

This plan lowers the individual tax rate for lower- and middle-class families, and reduces the tax rate for small businesses so more money is spent on expanding operations and hiring and paying workers. By lowering the corporate tax rate, manufacturing can once again return to the United States, bringing with it good-paying jobs for people across the nation. It is time New Mexicans have a simple, fair, and modernized tax code, and I'll continue working to ensure the tax code prioritizes the needs and priorities of New Mexicans."

On October 26, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an important measure to move tax reform forward so that individuals, families, and businesses across the nation could benefit from tax relief. Rep. Pearce recently joined KFOX to discuss the importance of getting tax reform passed for businesses and families in New Mexico.
