This afternoon, when asked about priorities on tax reform in today's daily briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated President Trump believes the child care tax credit should be included in the final package Congress sends to his desk.

Representative Kevin Yoder (R-KS) has introduced the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone (PACE) Act, a bipartisan bill to increase the child care tax credit and flex spending accounts, index them to inflation, and make them refundable for low-income families. On Friday, he penned a letter to House Ways and Means Committee leadership urging them to include the bill in the tax reform legislation set to be released tomorrow.

Representative Yoder issued the following statement in response to today's comments by the White House:

"I've been encouraged by the bipartisan support the PACE Act has received so far in the House and I'm certainly glad to hear the President agrees the child care tax credit must be a priority in tax reform," Yoder said. "The PACE Act would achieve one of the most important goals set forth by both Republicans and Democrats in providing targeted, specific tax relief to working families and working mothers across America and it should be a part of our overall efforts."

Yoder met at the White House with Adviser to the President Ivanka Trump last week to discuss the PACE Act and other efforts to support families with young children. His bill has been endorsed by numerous outside organizations that advocate for families and a stronger U.S. economy, such as:

Save the Children Action Network (SCAN)
First Five Years Fund (FFYF)
Child Care Aware of America
First Focus Campaign for Children
Early Care and Education Consortium
National Association for the Education of Young Children
