Manchin Commends Groundbreaking Of New Section Of Corridor H

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) today commended the groundbreaking of a new $821 million section of Corridor H between Kerens and Parsons. As Governor, Senator Manchin made completing Corridor H a priority -- opening more than half of the project during his administration -- and continues to fight for funding today as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

"Corridor H has been a top priority for me as a Governor and now as a Senator and I am glad that we are one step closer to completing the project and connecting our state to grow our economy," Senator Manchin said. "In order to rebuild our country's roads, highways and bridges, we must invest in strengthening our existing infrastructure while also building to connect smaller communities in West Virginia. When I was on the Senate Commerce Committee I was able to secure $2.4 billion for West Virginia from 2015-2020. Now on the Appropriations Committee I'm fighting to make sure we get the resources we need bring our infrastructure up to speed. When completed, Corridor H will be used by more businesses, investors, travelers and West Virginians alike and will only impact our state for the better."

As Governor, Senator Manchin worked closely with officials at the state and federal level to complete half the Corridor H project. In the FAST Act of 2015, the last infrastructure bill passed by Congress, Senator Manchin secured $2.4 billion in funding for West Virginia to invest in these critical projects. Today, as a member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Manchin is fighting to continue funding for the U.S Department of Transportation to bring Corridor H closer to completion.
