Thompson Statement on DHS Kaspersky Directive

Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on news that the Department of Homeland Security has issued a binding directive barring Kaspersky Lab software from Federal networks:

"The 2016 election brought home the ongoing cyber threat posed by Russia and, since then, questions about the risks of Federal IT networks using this Russian-based firm's software have intensified. To date, DHS had only issued four binding operational directives to Federal agencies and they've done so quietly. It is clear that DHS's decision to issue this directive, in a very public way, is significant."
