Pallone Statement on Trump Deployment of Additional Troops to Afghanistan

Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement on the Trump administration announcing that it will deploy additional troops to Afghanistan.

"President Trump lacks a clear and coherent plan to achieve sustained peace and security in Afghanistan. Committing more American troops to our nation's longest war is not a solution. After losing thousands of American soldiers and expending trillions of dollars in resources in Afghanistan, now is not the time to double down on a seemingly endless war.

"A few years ago, the President said we should get out of Afghanistan. He was right then. He is wrong now, and our troops and national security are on the line. We must safely and responsibly withdraw American troops from Afghanistan. I will continue to work with my like-minded colleagues to pursue that objective."
