Allen Supports Hurricane Relief

Statement

Date: Sept. 8, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Rick Allen (R-GA-12) released the following statement after supporting legislation to provide hurricane relief funds:
"I am disappointed that the Senate did not take up a clean bill to provide emergency relief funds and instead forced the House to vote on a last minute deal that includes a continuing resolution and debt ceiling extension. Here we are, yet again, kicking the can down the road. President Trump and my colleagues in Congress must advance conservative federal spending reforms as we were elected to do.

"That being said, I believe Congress has a responsibility to provide emergency funding to those in need from these catastrophic events. With Americans still rebuilding from Hurricane Harvey and the potential havoc Hurricane Irma could cause in the Southeast, I could not, in good conscience, vote against this bill.

"Please continue to keep everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma in your prayers."
