Kinzinger Applauds Sanctions Bill Passage

Press Release

Date: July 25, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 3364, the Russia, Iran, and North Korea Sanctions Act, which overwhelmingly passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 419-3.

"The United States continues to face threats to national security by foreign enemies like Iran, North Korea and Russia. Through provocations, cyber attacks and attempts to meddle in our democracy, these countries have attacked our American values and freedoms.

"Today, the House acted to impose sanctions that will increase economic and political pressure on Iran, North Korea, and Russia. In doing so, we sent a strong, bipartisan message to them and our allies that the United States will not tolerate the destabilizing and threatening activities of these belligerent regimes. I proudly voted in support of this sanctions bill and encourage the President to sign it into law.

"We must stand up to defend ourselves and our allies, and push back against these aggressive regimes that continue to violate basic human rights, support murderous dictators, develop and launch ballistic missiles that threaten us and our allies, and sew discord and mistrust through propaganda and disinformation machines. American leadership is needed now more than ever, and this sanctions bill is our chance to step up and lead."
