Senator Hassan Addresses School Superintendents Association's Legislative Advocacy Conference

Today, Senator Maggie Hassan addressed the School Superintendents Association's Legislative Advocacy Conference, where she highlighted the critical role that superintendents and school administrators play in ensuring that students, teachers, and public school districts can thrive. As a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Senator Hassan has supported strong K-12 public school systems and stood firm against efforts by President Trump and Secretary DeVos to undermine our public schools.

"It is essential that we foster a strong public education system where every child, regardless of their personal circumstances, can get the kind of quality education they need to be successful in the 21st Century economy," Senator Hassan said. "Superintendents and school administrators are critical to ensuring that students have the opportunity to reach their full potential, and I will continue working to ensure that public schools have the resources they need to help students thrive."

As part of her efforts to support a strong public education system, Senator Hassan helped introduce the bipartisan CTE Excellence and Equity Act to support re-designing the high school experience to include courses more relevant to careers in the 21st century workforce. The bill would provide federal funding for partnerships between school districts, employers, and institutions of higher education in New Hampshire and other states that integrate high-quality career and technical education (CTE) programs into high schools.
