Outrageous to Advance Yucca Mt. Proposal Without Input from Nevadans

Statement

Date: April 20, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Representative Ruben J. Kihuen sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment requesting to testify before a hearing scheduled on legislation which would advance the proposed nuclear waste repository site at Yucca Mountain:

"It is disconcerting that once again, forces outside Nevada are trying to pawn off their problems by dumping nuclear waste in our state. Nevada is not represented on this Committee and advancing this proposal at a hearing without any representation from our state is outrageous. I call on Chairman Shimkus to listen to Nevadans before making decisions about our state's future."
