Payne, Jr. Statement on House Passage of Financial CHOICE Act

Statement

Date: June 8, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. (NJ-10) issued the following statement today after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the ill-advised Financial CHOICE Act:

"This is a bill that abandons American families. It rolls back consumer protections for hardworking Americans--parents saving for their children's college, seniors saving for retirement, young adults saving for a down payment on their first house. With the Wrong CHOICE Act, Republicans are repealing years of improvements in the soundness and safety of our financial system. Taxpayers, and our entire economy, will be left vulnerable to another financial crisis if this bill is signed into law."
