Rep. Pascrell Statement on U.S. Participation in the Paris Climate Accord

Statement

Date: May 31, 2017
Location: Paterson, NJ

Today, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement after it was reported that the Trump Administration may pull out of the landmark, 195-signatory Paris Climate Accord that would significantly slow the progress of global warming:

"With no goals in mind or leverage to be gained, President Trump would be making a shortsighted decision to pull out of the Paris Climate Accord. This would do irreparable harm to our planet and undermine our nation's credibility," Rep. Pascrell said. " The historic agreement put nearly every nation in the world on the path to reducing their carbon emissions in a transparent way, ultimately to ensure a future of extreme conditions is not irrevocable."
