Bill Johnson Statement on Repeal of WOTUS Rule

Statement

Congressman Bill Johnson (R -- Marietta), released the following statement in response to the Trump administration's rescinding the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule:

"President Donald Trump has rolled back yet another unnecessary mandate created under the Obama administration; this time it is the Waters of the United States Rule, or WOTUS. I have been against this one-size-fits-all rule since it first came out. It was never about clean water; rather, it was about an overreaching federal bureaucracy that wanted more power - in this case the EPA. This regulation was poised to bring unnecessary hardships to so many of our rural communities. ‎Today's announcement is an important first step in getting the federal government out of our backyards, fields, and ditches. The EPA now needs to go back to the drawing board and write a rule that protects our water, while at the same time protecting small businesses such as farms, and the rights of individual land owners."
