Gov. Rick Snyder issued the following statement after the Detroit City Council voted unanimously to approve a global resolution that protects and furthers the interest of Detroiters beyond the footprint of the Gordie Howe International Bridge:

"Today, we celebrate a major milestone for Detroit and the entire state of Michigan, with the Detroit City Council's unanimous approval of a set of agreements that will protect the interests of Detroit residents. This is a testament to years of meaningful collaboration between stakeholders and community leaders who listened to one another and worked together to forge solutions that will benefit the people of Detroit for years to come. I thank Mayor Mike Duggan and the City Council for their leadership and commitment to Detroit residents in reaching this monumental agreement while securing the future of this vitally important infrastructure project."
