Today, Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) met with representatives from veteran's groups and other lawmakers to discuss how to implement a new government pilot program to test how GI Bill can help veterans learn jobs skills to join the tech economy.

Earlier this week, the House unanimously passed the Vet-Tec Act, which was part of a legislative package called the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017. Rep. Khanna was the lead Democratic sponsor of the Vet-Tec ACT, which was introduced by Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

"What's one way to help our veterans? Allow the GI Bill to cover the cost of technology courses. Our veterans deserve to have opportunities to gain skills needed for 21st century jobs," said Rep. Khanna. "Veterans are eager to join the tech field and this bill will help them pay for the necessary certifications and learn the skills that employees seek."

Rep. Khanna is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
